Benidorm Holiday

One of the most popular package holiday destinations in Spain, Benidorm may not be everybody's first choice. Nonetheless, if you're looking for all the attractions of a large scale resort, with lots of sun, sand and sea, then Benidorm is an ideal destination. Five million visitors can't be wrong. It's a common myth that Benidorm is nothing but a load of British pubs attracting thousands of unruly lager louts. This is far from the truth. Benidorm attracts visitors from all over Europe and is a very family orientated Spanish destination with something for every taste and budget. In fact the most common language you'll hear as you wander its streets is Spanish as the resort caters well for the locals.

Puerto Banus - Rating 8/10
Stayed in Puerto banus for a week in early June, 2008. It was a lovely place, a little bit expensive though if you don’t be careful. We decided to rent an apartment a bit further out of the area as all the rentals we found near the beach were either booked up or too expensive. Its definitely the place to be and be seen. Not so great for kids, but as it was just my partner and I, we didn’t have to worry. Rented a car from Malaga airport and travelled around a bit, but spent the majority of our time here. Would recommend it to anyone who’s looking to go on a Spain holiday. The marina café’s serve excellent seafood, and you don’t have to sip your sangria too long to see a lambo drive by – no joke! Good clubs too if you’re looking for a lively nightlife. There are two main beaches in the vicinity, although we preferred the one on the right of the marina as it was less crowded and more exclusive. Great shops in the area too – but not if you don’t mind brand names and high prices! Overall, we both enjoyed our Spain holiday.
Menorca - Rating 10/10
Menorca is a great little island. After a load of ‘umming and ahh-ing’, we decided to book our Spain holiday to Menorca. Originally, we had done a lot of research on Mallorca, but a friend of mine had already been to both places and recommended Menorca if you’re looking for more of a quiet, private holiday without a load of larger louts and all night raves. For my family, Menorca was the perfect choice. As it is not as commercial as Mallorca, and obviously not as much of a popular choice – we found great Spain accommodation and car rental deals online. I highly recommend it for couples, older singles and families. One of the main highlights of our Spain holiday was the day we hired bikes. The scenery is beautiful and every little town and village has a really Spanish feel to it. The locals are really welcoming and although it looks like tourism hasn’t hit Menorca hard yet, the majority of locals speak English. Food is great, although it’s probably not best to drink the tap water.
Cala Galdana - Rating 9/10
This was our second year to Cala Galdana in Menorca last year we had one week , now returned for two. The location in my opinion is the best on the island having had a car for two weeks l did see quite a few resorts. This was the prettiest and carefully laid out . Laying on a lilo for 10 euros was a must why because hiring two sun beds and a umbrella was 20 euros for the day and take your garden umbrella if you can you will need it. The beach was clean, clear crystal waters and getting into the sea was easy ,no sudden drops and ideal for children. Talking of children the week 10th to 24th we hardly saw any above school age 5 .Mostly couples from mid years upwards and like me many in their late years. Staying with the beach theres a beach cafe serving a good selection of meals at very good prices ,full breakfast about 6 euros.
Barcelona - Rating 10/10
Barcelona is a buzzing city, and great for families, singles and couples alike. I went with my boyfriend and some friends in May. The weather was perfect and we decided to book a villa online, which turned out to be ideal for the group. I would recommend you shop around online before you book your accommodation in Spain though as we booked ours last minute, and I really think we could have found something a lot nicer and worth the price. Barcelona’s nightlife is amazing, we had loads of late nights and were pretty tired in the mornings, but made sure we made it out to see the city’s sights and attractions by noon. We all had agreat time… I’m so happy we chose Barcelona for our Spain holiday.
Benidorm – Rating 6/10
Went to Benidorm in august 2008 for the first time. Booked a spain package holiday online as we’d never been to spain before and was really happy with the holiday. Although I think next time we will plan something that gives you more freedom – i.e. book it ourselves!! With the kids it was a great option as you had an arranged pick up from the airport once you arrived in spain and a bus collected you and took us directly to the hotel. The only thing we didn’t like – the hotel prices were outrageous. After getting a really good package holiday deal to spain, we were really shocked by the hotel prices of food and drinks. The hotel had a beautiful looking spa, but it was just not worth it for the money. In general my husband and kids all had a fun and relaxing holiday in Benidorm, but next time we would not choose a package holiday.
Alicante – Rating 8/10
Our Spanish holiday to Alicante was a holiday to be rememebered. We booked our accommodation in spain and car rental online and were set to go the minute we arrived. I recommend it to anyone. If you are looking to travel in the peak season summer then I advise you to book everything atleast two months in advance as we have learnt bitterly it’s the worst thing to leave booking good accommodation to the last minute.
Ibiza - Rating 10/10
We've being to the same hotel in Cala Gracio for 2 years running and we find different stuff to do each year. The water sports down near the harbour are excellent, they are worth doing. We've done parasailling both years, and i'm scared of heights. lol The shops are great for shopping we love La Sirena and Pacha shops and we recommend la parita restaurant. I think next time we come we will rent a car and travel around Ibiza a bit more to discover parts of the place that aren’t as commercial. I don’t think it would be great in peak season, although it might be pretty boring in low season as the nightlife would be dead and I heard the restaurants close up due to slow business in the winter. Overall Ibiza is an amazing place for a holiday – especially for singles and young groups. I cant imagine my folks partying the night away here lol!
Costa Blanca – Rating 10/10
The Costa Banca, New York on sea! You have to visit this resort even if it's only once. During the summer it's a family paradise with loads of entertainment for adults and children alike. During the rest of the year it becomes a haven for the elderly with plenty of entertainment to keep them amused. There is something for everyone here and you need never be bored. The weather is fabulous even in the winter months. We had a great time on our holiday in costa blanca. We booked our spain accommodation online and found a great deal. The beach villa looked better in the photos, but it was still an amazing place with its own pool, quaint barbecue area and patio overlooking the beach. Most of the beaches were pretty crowded during august and it was quite hot so if we were to go again, we would book either earlier or later in the summer. Costa blanca was an amazing Spanish holiday, despite the heat!
Ibiza, San Antonio - Rating 9/10
San antonio was absolutely brilliant, cafe mambo to see the sunset is a definite must see!! would definitly go back. i wouldnt class myself as a hardcore clubber but we really did enjoy the nightlife. Had a great time and would recommend it to anyone. Be careful of pick pockets though as my mate had his wallet stolen on the first night. Was a bit of a hassle, but thankfully he didn’t lose much.
Ibiza - Rating 8/10
We booked our spain holiday to Ibiza, on the recommendation that there were some really nice parts of Ibiza that weren’t just geared toward all night clubbing and drinking for youngsters. After doing loads of research, we found a great deal at Cala Gracio. The resort was very small but San Antonio is within walking distance where you can find plenty of nightlife & restaurants. We prefer a quiet resort so no complaints there. We had a great time and we found loads of lovely parts of Ibiza that truly were beautiful. They hadn’t lost their Spanish charm in the slightest.
Benidorm – Rating 9/10
Benidorm is a lovely resort that has things going on all year around. I have stay in Benidorm all year round including December and January and although the weather is not amazing it can still be warm enough to walk around in jeans and a t shirt.. it still makes a great getaway from the UK in jan! There are many activities and Terramitika is a place to go if you get chance.
Costa Blanca – Rating 5/10
We chose our package holiday to go to Costa Blanca as we found an amazing deal, flights and accommodation and breakfast included online. But when we arrived, we realized the resort of Benidorm is like a concrete jungle!! There was no hint of traditional Spanish culture or customs and you can even find chip shops on the main boulevard. Although you can find plenty of nightlife with lots of hen and stag parties, it really wasn’t what we had travelled all our way to spain on holiday to come and see. It was like a hot version of Birmingham with sandy beaches! We did discover the old town with lovely bars just a short walk away. This was beautiful and we spent the majority of nights coming here after we could escape the crowded hotel.
Fuerteventura – Rating 10/10
We just came back from Fuerteventura in September 09. I went with my husband for a short break and we had a lovely time. I definitely recommend it to couples. Fuerteventura is a lovely clean friendly island with beautiful sandy beaches – it was everything we had imagined
